Henry Gates
Henry Gates age 77 of Knapp, died Sunday June 14, 2015 at his home in the Township of Lucas, Dunn County with Hospice Care and surrounded by his family.
Henry was born June 17, 1937 at home near Summerset, WI. He was the son of Harland and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Gates. As a young adult, he moved with his family to St. Paul, MN where he graduated from Johnson High School. Henry worked at various jobs in the Twin Cities and eventually settled in to driving truck. He married Carol Drake October 26, 1957. In October of 1973 they purchased a farm in the Lucas Township of Dunn County, where the family farmed and Henry also drove truck. In their retirement, they liked to travel, go to the casino, doing some craft work.
Henry is survived by his wife, Carol, two children, Terrie Lynn Scanlon of Knapp; Steve Gates of Menomonie; three grandchildren, Joshua Scanlon, Danny and Casey Gates; four great grandchildren, Elise, Autumn and Madalynn Gates and Bella Scanlon, two sisters, Margaret Brinker of Minnesota and Marjorie MacFarlane of Alabama; a brother Raymond Gates of Wisconsin.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Albert.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday June 18, 2015 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie. No formal services will be held. Burial will immediately follow at the Teegarden Cemetery, Township of Lucas, rural Menomonie.
