Raymond E. Poeschel, age 89 of Durand, died Friday, September 04, 2015 at the Hillview Assisted Living in Mondovi with his family by his side.

Ray was born on September 7, 1925 on the homestead in the Town of Canton, rural Durand. Ray enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Pfeiffer. He liked attending his children’s and later his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loretta, five sons; Herb (Nancy) of Rochester, MN, Don (Monica) of Durand, Doug (Patricia) of Eau Claire, Rex (Belinda) and Ron (Jane), both of Durand, 10 grandchildren; Pam (Patrick), Dawn (Jeremy), Travis (Deedee), Chad (Lori), Kyle (Tammy), Kim (Mark), Olivia (Matt), Mark (Fiancé Mandy), Dusty and Lisa, seven great grandchildren; Jordan, Mason, Miranda, Tori, Ashley, Paityn and Ava, two sisters-in-law; Margaret Poeschel of Menomonie and Pauline Poeschel of Plum City, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one great granddaughter; Alexa Marie Peterson, three brothers; Harold, Walt and Richard and two sisters; Alice Heike and Ilene Switzenberg.

Funeral Mass will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand. Rev. Paul Bosco will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 3. Joanie Berger Gonitzke

So sorry to hear of the passing of one of our former farming neighbors. We used to cheat and set pocket gopher traps on Poeschel land because Ruth and I were too good at catching them and had to expand our territory. Dad matched the county bounty so it was worth it. Sorry. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
