Alex N. Kadinger Jr.

Alex N. Kadinger Jr., age 86 of Elmwood, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Alex was born on August 3, 1929 in Town of Dunn, rural Dunn County. He was the son of Alex H. and Bessie (Hite) Kadinger. Alex grew up in the Eau Galle – Downsville area, he attended St. Henry’s School in Eau Galle and graduated from Durand High School 1947. After high school, Alex farmed on the family homestead in rural Downsville. Alex married Verla Hoyt on October 24, 1950 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage they continued to farm and they were blessed with six children. Verla passed away in 1962. In 1965, Alex married Beatrice J. Schuh and were blessed with two more children. Beatrice passed away in January 1983. In October of 1983, Alex married Theresa Knobe and they later divorced. In 2009, Alex married Irene Weihert and together they lived in Nelson until their health concerns moved them to Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood. For the last year, Alex has been a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

In Alex’s farming years, he started with a dairy farm and after a barn fire, he converted his farm to a beef cattle farm. He also went to work for Farmer’s Union as a field agent and tested milk. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and dancing. Alex liked to travel, seeing the sights of the country and spending time at his cabin in Chetek. He also loved spending time with family and friends.

Alex is survived by his wife; Irene, eight children; Kathrine (Lawrence) Livingston of Hayward, Douglas (Chery Greene) of Roundup, MT, Michael (Heidi) of Independence, Budd (Marcia) of Durand, Ronald (Jill) of Pine City, MN, Kaylene (Robert) Wolfe of Menomonie, John (Mary) of Twin Lakes, MI and Joseph of Eau Galle, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, six sisters; Gloria, Rosanna, Josephine, Betty, Ramona and Diana, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives; Verla and Beatrice, grandson; Douglas Kadinger Jr. and one brother; Paul.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
