Shawn W. Gibson
Shawn W. Gibson, age 36 of Durand, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 as a result of a self-inflicted wound.
Shawn was born on June 26, 1979 in Menomonie. He was the son of William and Bonnie (Erickson) Gibson. Shawn grew up in Eau Galle, attended St. Mary’s grade School and graduated from Durand High School in 1998. After high school, Shawn went to work for and was currently employed with Wieser Concrete in Maiden Rock. Shawn married his high school sweetheart, Amanda McDonnell on August 16, 2003 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Together they had three daughters, Abby, Dani and Izzy.
Shawn liked hunting and camping. He enjoyed being on and was an active member of the Durand Fire Department. Shawn loved spending time with family and friends, but most of all he cherished being with and talking about his three daughters.
Shawn is survived by his wife; Amanda, three daughters, Abigail, Danielle and Isabella, all at home, parents; Bill and Bonnie Gibson of Fall Creek, one sister; Tami Miller of Fall Creek, mother-in-law; Mary Harmon of Arkansaw, niece and nephew; Samantha and Derrick Miller of Fall Creek, sister-in-law; Elizabeth Gifford of Arkansaw, his dog; Magi, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, good friend; Dan Mears, stepfather-in-law; Gene Gifford, five uncles and three aunts.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Rev. Jerry Hoeser will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shawn’s Daughters Memorial Fund at the Waumandee State Bank in Durand.
