Clifford F. Knutson

Clifford F. Knutson age 84 of Menomonie, died Saturday January 23, 2016 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, surrounded by his family.

Clifford was born January 2, 1932 in Barron Wisconsin.  He was the son of Julius and Edith (Shipley) Knutson and grew up on the family farm in Northern Dunn County and worked on various farms.  Cliff married Theresa Brehm August 25, 1954 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie.  In 1956 they moved to Menomonie and Clifford worked for Hofland’s Mill for a few years.  He also worked for McClellan’s Garage until 1977 when they purchased the business.  In 1983, they moved to their own building in the Menomonie Junction area of north Menomonie until 2001 when he retired.  For the past seven years he has been a resident of The Neighbors of Dunn County.

Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing, tractor pulls, bowling, Friday night racing, going to various air shows, horseshoes and spending time with his family and many friends.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa, five children, Steven (JoAnn)  of Menomonie, Cheryl Stoeklen of Menomonie, Rebecca Woods of Fridley, MN, Julie (Darryl) Doughty of Menomonie, Stephanie (Shawn) Heier of Summerset, SD; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Judy) of Barron, two sisters, Joanne (Robert) Dowd of St. Paul, MN, Bonnie Huset of Maplewood, MN,  a sister-in-law, Gladys Knutson of Colfax, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Susan Knutson, a son-in-law, Norman Woods, brothers, Kenneth, Francis, Leonard; sisters, Delora Smith, Marcella Hayes, Irene Gowin and two brothers in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday January 28, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. James Kurzynski officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
