James A Poeschel

James A. Poeschel Sr., age 93 of Eau Claire, formerly of Durand, per his wishes died at home in Eau Claire with his family by his side.

Jim was born on January 7, 1923. He was the son of John and Angeline (Koller) Poeschel. Jim grew up in the Town of Lima and attended Sacred Heart School in Lima. After school he worked on the family farm until buying the Moser Farm in Lima. Jim married Bernice Bauer on May 20, 1947 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. After marriage they continued farming and raising their family of eight children. Jim later merged his farm with the family farm and ran his construction company. He retired from farming and moved to Eau Claire where he continued his construction company.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and Old Milwaukee. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving companion; Joyce Zahara (and their dog Lulu), children; Mary Ann (Tony) Schuh of Rock Falls, John (Pauline) of Union Grove, Jim (Deb) of Kellogg, MN, Pat (Bonnie) of Burlington, Mike (Cheryl) of Morris, IL, Rene Miller of Union Grove and Sue (Tom) Brey of Kansasville, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandson, his first wife; Bernice Butzlaff of Kansasville, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter and son-in-law; Betty and Jim Risen, and wife; Mary Ann Robertson.

Funeral Mass will be 11:30 AM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
