Roman J. Weissinger

Roman J. Weissinger age 85, of Arkansaw, passed away Tuesday March 15, 2016 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie with his family by his side.

Roman was born March 2, 1931 in the Township of Lima, Pepin County, the son of Roma and Barbara (Pichler) Weissinger.  He grew up in the Lima area, rural Durand.  Roman was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 27th Infantry Regiment in Korea from September 22, 1951 to July 10, 1953.

Roman is survived by four children, Nicole (Eric) Geistler of Plainfield, IL, Paula (Tim) Irvine of Romeoville, IL, Chris (Karla) Weissinger of Lisle, IL, Blake Weissinger of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Haley and Kendra Geistler, Adam and Ian Irvine, Derek, Zachary, and Katelynn Weissinger; two sisters, Evelyn Feeney of Lacey, WA and Arvilla Culler of Louisville, KY, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Ramona Francis, his parents, and four brothers, Hubert, Kenneth, Phillip and Bernard.

Celebration of Life services will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday March 21, 2016 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand.  Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery-Lima, rural Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 181 of Durand.
