Elwin J. Brunner

Elwin J. Brunner age 91 of Elmwood, died Friday April 8, 2016 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Elwin was born November 1, 1924 in the Township of Maiden Rock, Pierce County.  He was the son of Dewey V. and Evalda A. (Johnson) Brunner.  He grew up in the Township of Rock Elm and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1943.  Elwin farmed with his parents on the family farm eventually taking over the farm.  He married Geraldine J. Kannel June 16, 1954 in Spring Valley.  After marriage they farmed in the Town of Rock Elm and raised their family.

Elwin enjoyed listening to and watching all sports, playing cards, dancing, and attending his children’s extracurricular activities.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and sang in the church choir. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Elwin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gerry; four children, Tom (Lori) of Ramsey, MN, Beth (Jim) Milliren of Spring Valley, Mark (Amy) of Osceola, Lori (Brian) Biederman of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Brent, Michael, Alex, Maddie, Zach, Jared, Lucas; two sisters, Betty (Roger) Nordin of Sun Lakes, AZ, Beverly (Galen) Monette of Eau Galle, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia Taylor and Marjorie Backlund, one brother, William.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Prince Raja officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
