Rheta M. Brunner

Rheta M. Brunner age 82 of Durand, formerly of Nelson, died Sunday July 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Rheta was born February 18, 1934 at home, in the Township of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Edward L. and Margaret (Webb) Bauer and grew up in the Lima Community and graduated from Sacred Heart High School-Lima.  Rheta married Anthony J. “Tony” Brunner on December 29, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima.  After marriage they made their home in New Jersey where Tony was stationed during his service in the U.S. Army.  After the service, they moved to Nelson and began farming and raising their family.

Rheta enjoyed cooking for family and friends especially during the holidays.  She was well known for making her famous potato salad.  She crochet many afghans for her family, she was also active in St. Mary’s P.C.C.W. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rheta is survived by her children, Daniel (Connie) of Nelson, Peggy (Jerry) Bucholtz of Durand, Robert (Doreen) of Nelson, Nancy (Chad) Brunner of Boyd; Julie Meyer of Nelson, Jeff of Nelson; 15 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Kelly), Jody (Jim), Jennifer (Josh), Justin (Stephanie), Christopher (Chelsie), Jerrod, Bradley, Nick, Trevor, Tanner, Kyle, Nataya, Timothy, Kylie and Lauren; six great grandchildren, Jack, Lexi, Barrett, Quinn, Ella and Grace and two more on the way; three brothers, Don (Irma) Bauer, Norman (Pat) Bauer and Gerald M. (Toni) Bauer all of Durand and one brother-in-law, Lewis “Lud” Bauer of Eau Claire.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anthony “Tony” of 60 years, in 2013 and a sister, Lois Bauer.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday July 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
