Irma J. Helmueller

Irma J. Helmueller, age 89 of Plum City, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand with her family by her side.

Irma was born on January 28, 1927 in Plum City. She was the daughter of Warren and Eleanor (Bien) Taylor. Irma grew up in the Plum City area and graduated from Plum City High School. After high school, Irma moved to Minneapolis and worked there for a year. Irma married Eugene W. Helmueller on June 19, 1945 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City. After marriage, they farmed on the Helmueller family farm and raised their family. Irma led the Plum City Cub Scouts for several years, instructed baking for the 4-H and was an active member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In 1987 Irma and Eugene moved to the Village of Plum City, where she remained the rest of her life.

Irma enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, taking care of her vegetable and flower gardens. Most of all, Irma loved to spend time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Irma is survived by her husband of 71 years; Eugene, children; Kathleen Luebker of Plum City, Michael (Lois) of River Falls and Mary Jane Wood of Menomonie, 13 grandchildren; Lisa (Kris), Mark (Annie), Jacki (Shaun), Pam, Paula (Dale), Stacy (Eric), April, Robert (Rochelle), Kathleen, Nathan (Corrine), Allison (Andrew), Jacob (Andrea) and Matthew, 15 great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, two step great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Tim, three brothers; Vern, Charles and Neil Taylor and three sisters; Lucille Taylor, Dorothy Olson and Lorraine Bechel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City with Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka officiating. Burial will be in the Free Home Cemetery in Plum City. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
