Ivan L. Hague

Ivan L. Hague

Ivan L. Hague, age 97 of Menomonie, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Atrium of Appleton near his daughter, Joanne.

Ivan was born on December 11, 1918 to Ella and Ellsworth Hague, Maiden Rock, Wisconsin.  Ivan attended grade school near the family farm in a one room school house and later attended high school at Plum City, Wisconsin.   He was not able to finish high school due to his father’s death. Ivan then helped his mother with the farm and in raising his five siblings.  Ivan married Muriel Peterson from Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 22, 1957.  Muriel joined him on the farm.  They had one son, Larry, born on July 22, 1958 and a girl, Joanne, born on August 29, 1961.  They retired from the farm in 1978 and moved into Plum City. In 1993 Ivan and Muriel moved to Durand until moving to Menomonie in 2006. Ivan enjoyed his last few years at Our House Assisted Living in Menomonie.

Ivan loved gardening, (especially flower gardening), fishing and travelling.  He had a flare for writing letters and poems.  He loved singing.  In his younger days, he sang for funerals and later with church choirs.  He loved music and dancing.  Right up to the last, he enjoyed singing, and occasionally, would do a little jig.  He was a pleasant, fun-loving guy that everyone enjoyed getting to know.  He will be greatly missed by all those who grew to love him.

Ivan is survived by his son, Larry Hague, daughter, Joanne (John) Marsh, grandson, Justin (Leticia) Marsh, granddaughter, Janelle (Andrew) Perusi, great grandchildren, Maddox Marsh, Clark Marsh, Zealand Perusi, his sister, Myrna Lind, one brother-in-law, Charles Latcham and one sister-in-law, Millie Hague. He was preceded in death by his parent’s Ella and Ellsworth Hague, wife, Muriel Hague, brother, Vincent Hague, sister Doris (Hague) Fortner, brother, Neville Hague and sister, Ardith (Hague) Latcham.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 PM Monday, November 7, 2016 at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Rev. Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Maiden Rock Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until the time of services at the funeral home on Monday.

Condolences

  1. Carolyn Lailer

Although I just met Ivan in the last week of his life here on earth, he touched my heart. I send condolences to his family and friends who were blessed to know him when he was full of life and vitality. I so look forward to seeing him again in Heaven when we will be unencumbered by our earthly bodies and troubles. I was with him when he left his earthly body and took on the one reserved for him in heaven and assure you he was in total peace - that was what he wanted and what we wanted for him. Rest in the knowledge that he is now in heaven singing with the angels and dancing with the heavenly throng. See you later Ivan .......

I have a gospel song and short Bible challenge every Thursday at Our House. Ivan with his contagious smile was always in attendance.
One day I shared how our only way to heaven is to open our heart and let Jesus come in and be Lord of our life. Ivan did that and so I know with confidence that Ivan today is with his Saviour in heaven. He has a new glorified body, will never be sick again or fall and needs no more meds.
Ivan is already missed at Our House but is nice to know he is his eternal home now.
My condolences go out to his family and friends.

    Joanne, Larry & Family,
Please know my thoughts are with you as you place your dad to rest. He used to be an occasional dental patient of mine but more recently, we took pets from the Dunn County Humane Society for a few months to visit the residents at Our House, and he was delightful. I even heard him "sing" one afternoon!
He was so lucky to have such a caring family.
    Vicki Cole
