Charlotte M. Bowen age 86 of Elmwood, died Tuesday December 6, 2016 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Charlotte was born December 30, 1929 in the Township of Rock Elm, rural Elmwood.  She was the daughter of Calvin and Hedwig (Gehn) Fischer, and grew up in the Rock Elm community.  Charlotte married Gordon L. Bowen April 5, 1947 in Hastings, MN.  After marriage they made their home in the Rock Elm area and raised their family.  Charlotte enjoyed cooking and worked as a cook in the Spring Valley Care Center, Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home and as baker at Cenex Corp. in Inver Grove Heights MN.  For many years, Charlotte was active in the U.M.W at the Rock Elm Methodist Church, doing many ice cream socials and any meal preparations for all church activities. 

Besides her love of cooking and baking, Charlotte enjoyed crocheting and embroidering and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Calvin (Pat) of Bastrop, TX, Robert (Jane) of Elmwood, Greg (Carol) of Salem, OR, Nancy (Rick) Johnson of Menomonie, Debra (Jeff) Bischel of New Auburn, Terry of River Falls; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; one brother, Lloyd (Rose) Fischer of South Saint Paul, MN,  a sister-in-law, Pat Fischer of Inver Grove Heights, MN, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon in 2002, two sisters, Fern (Rudy) Neumann and Bernadine (Clyde) DeLong and a brother Edward Fischer.

Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood followed by burial at Poplar Hill Cemetery-Rock Elm, rural Elmwood.
