Esther V. Gilles

Esther V. Gilles, age 82 of Plum City, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand with her family by her side.

Esther was born on March 8, 1934 in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lila (Johnson) Forster. Esther grew up in the Lima area and graduated from the Sacred Heart High School in Lima. After high school, Esther worked as a cook and a custodian for the Plum City School District. Esther married Dallas “Dall” Gilles on November 9, 1961. After marriage, Esther took care of her family and helped Dall run Maiden Rock Oil.

Esther enjoyed cooking, baking and liked taking motorcycle trips with Dall around the country. Most of all, Esther loved spending time with family and friends.

Esther is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dall, two children; Gary Forster of Cedar Falls and Karla Clare (Dan) of Durand, two grandchildren; Eric Clare of Plum City and Tristian “TI” Clare of Oshkosh, one sister; Maxine (Dave) Heitman of Nelson nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother; John Forster and one sister; Cleo Hubbard.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
