Sandra M. Holmstadt

Sandra M. Holmstadt, age 64 of Racine, formerly of Durand, died unexpectedly on January 15, 2017 at her home in Racine.

Sandy was born on November 18, 1952 in Durand. She was the daughter of Beryl and Evelyn (Hartley) Holmstadt. Sandy grew up in Durand and graduate from Durand High School in 1970. After high school, Sandy moved to Racine and started her career at S.C. Johnson Wax. Sandy started on the factory floor as a line worker and worked her way to being an executive secretary before retiring in December of 2015.

In her younger days, Sandy was a pit crew member of a sprint car that raced at Hales Corners Speedway, she also played softball, went horseback riding and shot pool in league. Sandy enjoyed card stamping, sewing, crocheting and traveling. She was a very good cook and fond of her pets; her favorite dog Rowdy and cat Morris. Most of all Sandy loved spending time with family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her siblings; Andrew of Durand, Susan (John) Birtzer of Eau Claire, Thomas (Pearl) of Menomonie, sister-in-law, Carolyn Holmstadt of Nelson; seven nieces and nephews, two step nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and four step great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother; David Holmstadt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
