Robert D. Hovland

Robert D. Hovland

Robert D. Hovland, age 70 of Arkansaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 09, 2017 at his home in Arkansaw with his family by his side.

Bob had three loves in his life, his family, including his dog Brandi; his country and the Green Bay Packers. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many, especially his family.

Bob joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 on June 15, 1964. His mother, Kathryn had to sign off to let him join. He did his basic training in Camp Pendleton, CA and served in Vietnam. Bob was Honorably Discharged on June 14, 1968.

A Limb has Fallen

A limb has fallen from the family tree,

I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me.”

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, now I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with your life, don’t just stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,

Until the day comes we’re together again.

Military Services will be held on “a nice warm day” at a later date, per Bob’s request.

Memorials will be used to put a bench in Bob’s memory at Veteran’s Memorial in Durand. Please send memorials to Robert Hovland’s Memorial Bench, N492 County Road D, Eau Galle WI 54737.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
