Larry L. Knops age 80 of Menomonie, died Thursday March 23, 2017 at his home in the Township of Red Cedar, rural Menomonie.

Larry was born June 7, 1936 in the Township of Weston, Dunn County.  He was the son of Lloyd L. and Dorothy M. (Pickerign) Knops and grew up on the family farm.  As a young boy he moved with his family to Menomonie.  Larry married Mary L. Dahl November 16, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie.  After marriage they moved to St. Paul Park, MN and Larry worked at Armour’s in South St. Paul for 22 years.  Larry and Mary moved back to Menomonie and he worked at Armour’s in Eau Claire for five and a half years.  Larry then went on to work for Flint Ink in West St. Paul, until he retired.

Larry enjoyed working and operating his hobby farm, taking the great grandchildren on “gator rides” and giving them pony rides. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting guns, going to gun shows, and spending time with his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his wife Mary, two sons, Dale of McGrath, MN, Scott (Nancy) of Eagan, MN, a daughter, Penny Ness of Menomonie, nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, a brother James (Carol) of Menomonie, two sisters, Anita (James) Harvey of Ocala, FL, Jayne (Gerald) Lorenz of Knapp, several nieces, nephews other relative and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Dawn, and a great granddaughter.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday March 29, 2017 at Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie with Rev. James Kurzynski officiating.  Burial will follow immediately after the services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Menomonie.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie.
