Delbert M. Weber age 79, of Menomonie

Died: Friday November 7, 2008 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.

He was born on February 23, 1929 in the Town of Eau Galle, Dunn County, son of Phillip and Margaret (Weisenbeck) Weber. He attended elementary schools in Rock Elm area of Pierce County. He married Elaine Hartung in 1954 and they operated a farm in the Township of Weston, Dunn Co. He took great pride in his farm, cattle and machinery. He was awarded the Outstanding Cooperator Award in 1979 by the Soil, Water and Conservation Department. They sold the farm in 1995 and retired on 2 acres of their farmland. In 1983, they purchased a lake home on Upper Turtle Lake and spent many days there relaxing and fishing. He loved to have his entire family come and spend time there with him. Delbert was very active in his church at St. Joseph’s in Menomonie serving as an Usher, Hospitality Greeter, Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council member and member of the K of C helping at the fish boils. He served 13 years as chairman of ASCS board of Dunn Co and was a member of the Farmer’s Home Administration for 9 years. He also served on Dunn Co. SCS board, RCRCD Board, Fair Board and was a Tri-State Breeders delegate for several years. He was a 4-H Project leader and a volunteer at Dunn County Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.

His family was important to him. He was proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and attended many of their functions.

He is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Elaine and 5 children; Dianne (John) Bowen of Rice Lake, Frederick (Jory) Weber and Cleo (Rich) Gilgenbach both of Menomonie, Rose Pelikan of Rosemount, MN and Mary (Scott) Miller of Lakeville, MN. Thirteen grandchildren – Katie (Greg) Posewitz , Cory (Leiah) Bowen, Jennifer (Cory) Steinmeyer, Jill and Jackie Weber, Sarah (Trevor) Willkomm, James, Richie and Liz Gilgenbach, Britanee and Michael Pelikan, Allie and Rachel Miller,and one great grandchild Amorie Bowen. Also 6 sisters and 6 brothers; Elaine (Lon) Thompson of Prescott, Joyce (Lester) Hines of Ellsworth, Carol Wittig of Las Vegas, NV; Mary Webb of Elmwood, Margie (James) Carter of Wheeler, and Barb (Kelly) Rassbach of Menomonie, Daniel (Myrna) of Elmwood, Phillip (Jane) of South Milwaukee, Patrick (Marlene) of Rome, Thomas (Sharon) of Elmwood, Leon (Shirley) of Hartland and David (Christine) of Waukesha. Also several brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.

Preceded by his parents, brother, Roger, son-in-law Joe Pelikan and brothers-in-law, Jack Wittig and Morris Webb.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie with Fr. Thomas Krieg officiating. Visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Monday at the Rhiel funeral Home in Menomonie as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Lower Weston Cemetery which is surrounded by his former farmland.
