Mildred Arlene Bauer

Arlene Bauer age 82 of Durand, passed away on Friday January 19, 2018 at her home in the Township of Lima, rural Durand surrounded by her family.

Arlene was born October 17, 1935 in Eau Galle.  She was the daughter of Clarence and Ada (Snyder) Kitchner and grew up in the Eau Galle community.  Arlene graduated from Durand High School in 1953.  She married Jerry A. Bauer June 1, 1954 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, Durand, Wisconsin.  After marriage they made their home in the Township of Lima where they farmed together and raised their family.  Besides raising her family, Arlene was active in volunteer work at her children’s school activities, helped tutor elementary school children.  Arlene held leadership roles in Pepin County Homemakers, 4H, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Friday fish fries at church.  Arlene later worked as a cook at Holy Rosary Elementary School, Club 10 and the Durand House restaurants and also did catering for weddings.

Arlene enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, needle point, ceramics, watching her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school activities, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her husband Jerry of 64 years, five children, Eric (Deb) Pessl-Bauer of West Salem, Laurie (Thomas) McQuillan of Boyd, Sheila (Gregory) Warren of River Falls, Rose (Lee) Prissel of Rochester, MN, Christopher (LuAnn) of Mondovi; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Elizabeth Anderson, Amanda Westra, 4 brothers, Kenneth Kitchener, Wayne Kitchener, Clarence Kitchener, John Kitchener, and two sisters LaVerle Field and Sally Hubbard.

Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday January 24, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, Durand with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
