Orland S. Olson

Orland S. Olson, age 78 of Pepin, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City with his family by his side.

Orland was born on February 5, 1939 in Barron County. He was the son of Sigval and Violet (Flynn) Olson. He grew in the Chetek area and graduated from Chetek High School. Orland married Mary Jane Howard on April 12, 1958 in Chetek. After marriage, Orland and his family moved to Ellsworth, where Orland worked for his uncle in Red Wing, MN. He worked for Weiser Concrete for several years before he went to work as a mason in the construction industry until retiring.

Orland enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and cutting wood. Mostly, Orland loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Orland is survived by his wife; Mary of 59 years, four children; Wesley (Kim) of Chipley, FL, Kirk of Ellsworth, Bradley (Bonita) of Maiden Rock and Karmen (John) Freund of Maiden Rock, 17 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister; Karen Olson of New Auburn, two brothers; Merlyn (Sara) of Chetek and Larry (Kathy) of Cameron, special family friends, Angie (Kraig) Krueger of Maiden Rock, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two half-sisters; Babe Hensel and Marvel Larson, half-brother; Eldon Thompson, one son; Stuart, one daughter; Michelle Olson in infancy, grandson; Aaron Olson and a granddaughter; Camille Bardsley.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Ono United Methodist Church, rural Maiden Rock. Rev. Grace Baldridge will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
