Doris E. Asher age 80 of Elmwood,
Died: Thursday November 27, 2008 at Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
Doris was born December 29, 1927 in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Wesley and Ellen (Stockman) Miller. As a young child she moved with her family to Edmonds, Washington where she was raised. Doris married John L. Asher August 26, 1947 at Farm Hill, rural Elmwood. After marriage they farmed in the Arkansaw area before moving the Elmwood community where they continued to farm and raise their family. Doris also sold Avon products for several years. Doris was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; the Alter & Rosary Society; American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother. Her husband John died in 1995 and for past three years she has been a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Donna (Dennis) Niemela of Coon Rapids, MN; five sons, Lynn (Eileen) of Lindstrom, MN; Larry (Bonnie), Richard (Vicky), Bernard (Linda), Scott (Terri) all of Menomonie; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; three sisters, Velma Isdale of Kent, WA; Jean Burch of Sequim, WA; Karen Masters of Port Orchard, WA; a brother, Lavern Miller of Goshen, IN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son James in 1969; a granddaughter Nicole Asher; two brothers, Keith and Dale Miller.
