Oscar M Stewart Jr.

Oscar M. Stewart Jr., age 83 of Nelson, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home in Nelson.

Jr was born on September 20, 1934 at home in the Town of Frankfurt. He was the son of Oscar and Elva (Lewis) Stewart Sr. and attended the Lost Creek Country School in the Lost Creek Valley. At an early age, Jr helped his dad on the family farm. Jr. married Addie Breidung on April 4, 1955 in Wabasha, MN. After marriage they lived in rural Pepin where Jr. worked for Dressel Construction. He was a member of the Engineers Local Union #139. Shortly before retiring, Jr and Addie moved to Nelson where he remained the rest of his life.

Jr enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, trapping and going down to Beth’s for coffee. Most of all, Jr enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jr is survived by his children; Duane of Pepin and John (Joyce) of Stockholm, daughter-in-law; Lila Stewart of Reno, NV, seven grandchildren; Leah (Shannon), Alisha (Jon), Larry, Amy, Misty (Sam), Candy (Tom) and Beau (Michelle), seven great grandchildren, six brothers; Roger (Sharon) of Stockholm, Alvin “Buck” (Shirley) of Arizona, Ronnie (Sally) of Ellsworth, Carl of Pepin, Clifford of Stewartville, MN, and Mark of Iowa, five sisters; Rose (Dave) Overton of California, Ruth Wick, Phyllis (Lloyd) McQuistion of Mondovi, Theresa Stewart of Durand, and Vicki Patraw of Pepin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Addie, two sons, Randy and Mike and one brother; Jack Stewart. 

Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. Visitation will be 4:00PM – 7:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the funeral home in Durand on Saturday.
