Marion L. Kopp

Marion L. Kopp

Marion L. Kopp, age 96 of Plum City, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City with her family by her side.

Marion was born on May 9, 1922 in the Town of Salem, rural Pierce County. She was the daughter of Horace “Hod” and Elsie (Horning) Borst. Marion grew up in the Salem Township, attended the rural Herbison School and graduated from Ellsworth High School. In May of 1942 she was united in marriage to Wayne L. Kopp at the Ono Methodist Parsonage. After marriage, they settled on their farm in Grange Hall where they farmed and raised their family until 1982. In 1982, Marion and Wayne moved to rural Plum City. Marion continued to come to the farm to do daily chores, babysit or bring treats. Wayne passed away in February of 2003, being married 60 years. Marion continued to live in her home and mowed her own lawn and stoke the wood fire until she was 85, with the help of her neighbors and best friends, Paul and Kathy Bechel. Marion moved into the Village of Plum City and lived five years at the Brookview Apartments before coming to the Plum City Care Center after her 90th birthday, where she remained the rest of her life.

Marion was long time member of the Ono United Methodist Church and Women’s Group, serving as treasurer for many years. She loved being a homemaker and was a member of the Grange Hall Homemakers. Marion volunteered at the TAD and Plum City Care Centers for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, baking, knitting, reading, playing cards, scrapbooking and traveling with friends. Most of all, Marion loved to spend time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren. She made them each their own special pies at the holidays.

Marion is survived by her son; Gail (LuAnn) of Maiden Rock, son-in-law; Jerome Kane of Maiden Rock, five grandchildren; Jennifer (Garrett) Birkel, Erica (Matt) Herink, Renee (Aaron) Nutter, Kevin (Sarah) Kopp and Kristen (Dale) Elbe, 12 great grandchildren, special friends Paul and Kathy Bechel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Wayne, daughter; Sandra Kane and three brothers; Floyd, Donald and Earl Borst.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Friday at the Ono United Methodist Church in Maiden Rock. Rev. Grace Baldridge will officiate. Burial will be in the Ono Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the church on Friday.
