Brenda J. Bauer, age 66 of Arkansaw, died Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side.

Brenda was born on March 9, 1957 at the hospital in Plum City. She was the daughter of Gerald and Bernice (Schutz) DeLong. Brenda grew up in Elmwood and attended Elmwood High School. Brenda married Hubert W. “Herb” Bauer on March 17, 1973 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage, they lived in rural Arkansaw where they started their family. When her children were older, Brenda went to school and attained a degree in nursing. Brenda worked as a LPN at the Plum City Care Center and retired from the Midelfort Clinic in Menomonie.

Brenda enjoyed baking, cooking and going camping. Brenda liked country line dancing and also taught classes for it. Most of all, Brenda loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Herb, children Jerome (Grace) of Osseo, JoDein (Kevin) Papenfus of Mondovi, Justin (Celeste) of San Diego, CA and Jill (Jeff) Krause of Highbridge, 12 grandchildren Kaneesha, Emilee, Casey, Megan, Gerald (Sarah), Dakotah (Brandon), Beonca, Emma, Ambrose, Jason, Austin and Brendan, seven great grandchildren, one brother Gerald “Ricky” (Linda) DeLong of Friendship, brother-in-law Joseph Powers of Wabasha, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Karen Powers.

Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until the time of services at the funeral home on Thursday. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Durand Masonic Lodge from 3:00PM-5:00PM.
