Betty E Harris
Betty E. Harris, age 87 of Elmwood, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
Betty was born on August 9, 1922 in the Louisville area of rural Dunn County. She was the daughter of John and Nellie (Newell) Weiss. Betty attended Durand High School but graduated from Menomonie High School. After high school, Betty attended Dunn County Normal for two years. Betty married Elwyn T. Harris October 12, 1940 in Menomonie. They moved to their home in the Township of Rock Elm, near Elmwood, where they farmed and raised their family.
In her younger years, Betty was an active member of the Rock Elm Methodist Church Ladies Aid and working in various places around Elmwood. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit their family in California.
Betty is survived by her children, Marie (Jim) Gauvin of Colfax, Wayne (Tracee`) of Modesto, CA, seven grandchildren, Tom (Lynette), Ann (Dan), Susie (Dave), Tim, Brenda (Paul), Wayne Jr. and Jenny (Jeremy), 5 great grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Bradley, Kaysie and Carter John, several nieces nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Elwyn (1990), one son John (2001), two brothers, Newell and Wayne Weiss and one sister Alice Phelan.
