Robert Milton Hulverson

Robert Milton “Bob” Hulverson, age 71 of Plum City, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN on Friday morning, February 8, 2008 after a long, courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on January 7, 1937, in Plum City, to Milton and Ruth (Glaus) Hulverson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Gfall) Hulverson, four daughters, Cindy Gorsegner, Diane (Bill) Stark, Jane and Linda Hulverson, and one son Tom (Erin) Hulverson. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Beth and Deanna Gorsegner, Billy Stark and Matthew Hulverson, two sisters, Janet (Francis) Hager, Millicent (Eddie) Stockwell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Bobby Stark.

Bob attended grade school in Plum City and graduated with honors from Ellsworth High School. He served in the United States Army for two years; helped operate the family farm for several years; owned and operated the Eat Side Grocery store in Durand for over six years; and was Postmaster in Durand, WI, for 25 years. He was a member of the Durand Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years, served as a Durand City Council Alderman for six years, member of the Knights of Columbus, Charter member of the Durand Lions Club, President of the St. Mary’s Home & School Association and a stockholder of the Durand Rod and Gun Club. He was active in Boy Scouts and received the St. George Award, and was a member of St. John’s Parish in Plum City.

Bob’s hobbies included his passion for woodworking, carpentry, building and repairing, gardening and “hobby” farming. He enjoyed gambling, bowling, playing cards, visiting with friends and helping out his neighbors. He was a very humble man and will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plum City at 9:30 AM Tuesday February 12, 2008, with a mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
