Barbara J "Jeanie" Bauer
Barbara Jean “Jeanie” Bauer, age 73 of Arkansaw, passed away on November 10, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Jeanie was born on April 25, 1940 in the Pepin area to Clifford and Agnes (Hettrick) Olson. She grew up in Arkansaw and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, she attended business school in Minneapolis. While Jeanie’s children were growing, she was a homemaker and stay at home mom. She also engaged in part time employment as her children were older. Career-wise, she is best remembered by the families for whom she provided childcare during the 1980’s and 90’s. Jeanie married Gary Bauer on December 27, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. They were happily married for 53 years. Jeanie enjoyed baking, gardening, going for walks, being with friends, playing board games and cards.
Jeanie is survived by her son Nick Bauer of Dyckesville, WI; daughter Lori (Robert) Krings of Mondovi; son Mike Bauer of Eau Claire; daughter Kelly Schultz (Rod) of Holmen; grandson Travis (Lindsay) Krings of Denver, CO; and grandson Matt Krings of Menomonie. Jeanie is preceded in death by her spouse Gary Bauer, her parents Clifford and Agnes Olson and her brother Dennis Olson.
Funeral Service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, November 14, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Eric Linzmaier officiating. A visitation will be held at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand from 5-8 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
