Byron C. Barnhart age 89 of Menomonie, died Sunday December 1, 2013 at Comforts of Home in Menomonie under the care of hospice.

Byron was born February 3, 1924 in the Township of Bloom, Richland County Wisconsin on the home farm. He was the son of Leo and Freda (Clark) Barnhart and grew up in Richland County. Byron married Dorothy M. Budde on May 8, 1948 in Vernon County. After marriage they made their home in Richland County where they farmed. In March of 1960 they bought a farm in Dunn County and farmed until 1993. Besides farming, Byron also worked construction doing mostly concrete and masonry work. Dorothy died in 1997 and for the last 2 ½ years Byron has been a resident of the Comforts of Home.

Byron and Dorothy were active members of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Byron enjoyed woodworking, visiting with his friends at “Exit 45” and spending time with family and friends.

Byron is survived by his son, Larry (Carolyn) Barnhart and daughter Colleen (Greg) Lentz both of Menomonie; six grandchildren, Scott (Lindsay) Barnhart; Amy (Josh) Rynes; Eric (Dannielle) Barnhart; Tom (Chelesa) Barnhart; Jon Lentz; Jenny (Bill) Kramer; seven great grandchildren, Kyah Barnhart; Asher Barnhart; Caleb & Isaac Rynes; Avery Lentz; Anna & Lila Kramer; a sister, Beverly Jenkins of Madison and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 1997; a brother Vivian Barnhart.
