Lowell J Weber

Lowell J. Weber age 76, passed away at his home in Ridgeland on Saturday, December 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with multiple cancers, surrounded by his family.

Lowell was born on April 2, 1937 in Menomonie to John and Geneva (Werner) Weber. He was baptized at St. Henry’s Church in Eau Galle and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Church in Barron. Lowell’s parents farmed in the Weston area of Dunn County until 1947 when they relocated to rural Ridgeland where his father, John started a John Deere business. Lowell first attended Fairview school in rural Menomonie, then Dammon Ridge Elementary and Barron High School. He worked with his dad in the John Deere business before school after school and started full-time in 1955. Lowell married Cleo Clemetson on May 24, 1958 at St. Peter’s Church in Cameron. They have lived in the Ridgeland area all of their lives. In 1975, Lowell left the John Deere business and started working for the Dunn County Highway Dept. as a shop foreman until vision problems forced him to retire in 1993.

Lowell enjoyed many hobbies over the years, in the 1960’s it was GoKart racing. In the 70’s it was snowmobile riding and racing, pulling John Deere tractors at contests in the area. Many weekends were spent in the trailer at the campground at Rush River and fishing at Island Lake. He also loved to swap stories around the campfire, hunting, NASCAR racing and the Green Bay Packers were very important to him.

Lowell was on the Village Board in Ridgeland, first as a trustee and then as a President of the Board for 26 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Menomonie and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Lowell is survived by wife of 55 years, Cleo, one daughter; Patty (Rick) Paasch of Cottage Grove, MN, three granddaughters; Dana (Kevin) Larson of Cottage Grove, MN, Devin (B.J.) Van Briesen George, IA and Stephanie Paasch of Scottsdale, AZ, four great grandchildren; Claire and Jack Larson, Logan and Ryleigh Van Briesen, one brother; Marvin (Joan) Weber of Florissant, MO, four sisters; Carol (Jim) Lutzen of Sturgeon Bay, Marlene Curtis of Perham, MN, Corine (Wally) Roberts of Hugo, MN and Joan (Bob) Christopherson of Ridgeland, two sisters-in-law; Joan Peterson of Ridgeland and Paula (Dave) Hovre of Colfax, one brother-in-law; Kirby (Kim) Clemetson of Ridgeland, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Lowell was a kind loving husband, Father and Papa to the entire family. He will be missed.
