Esther A. Berger
Esther A. Berger age 96 of Menomonie, died Monday March 24, 2014 at the Neighbors of Dunn County.
Esther was born June 12, 1917 in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Edward and Helga (Lund) Hofland. She grew up in the Menomonie area, attending Menomonie Schools. Esther married Leo Berger June 22, 1935 in Menomonie. After marriage they farmed on the Berger home farm in the Township of Menomonie until 1975 when Leo passed away. In 1976 Esther moved to the Dunn Ridge Estates, Township of Dunn, until 2005 when she became a resident of the Dunn County Health Center and recently the Neighbors of Dunn County where she has remained the rest of her life.
Esther enjoyed sewing, knitting and in her younger years, she enjoyed helping her father with field work and gardening.
Esther is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Trask of Menomonie; Beverley Holden of Osseo; four grandchildren, Kim, Shawn, Virgil and Tim; six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Esther is preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo, a son Eugene; three brothers, Paul, Henry and Fritz Hofland; two sisters, Helen Hoffman and Agnes Cook.
