Beatrice M. "Beats" Brunner

Beatrice M. “Beats” Brunner, age 87 of Durand, died Saturday, April 05, 2014 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire with her family by her side.

Beats was born on July 1, 1926 on the home farm in the Lima Township of Pepin County. She was the daughter of John P. and Rose B. (Pichler) Bauer. Beats grew up in the Lima area and graduated from Sacred Heart Schools in Lima. After high school, Beats worked in Milwaukee for several years before coming back to Durand to work for E. S. Pattison taking coal orders. Beats married Cyril “Cy” Brunner on August 6, 1946 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they farmed and raised their family in the Lima area. They also were Co-Owners of Brunner Seed.

Beats loved to go bowling, going to casinos, golfing, and gardening. She also loved fishing in the Bear Creek which went through their property. Beats also was an avid Minnesota Viking fan. She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially her homemade potato dumplings, which is a family tradition.

Beats is survived by her children; Pat Rosenberg of Durand, Mary (Dr. Bill) Hopkins of Cadott, Terry “Seed” and Donna (Mike “Hurl”) Hurlburt, both of Durand, six grandchildren; Perry (Special Friend Amber), Shawn, Hayley (Fiancé Brad), Michelle (Dale), Lucas (Heidi) and William “Bixby” (Ann), five great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, one sister; Mildred (Bud) Miller of Rice Lake, two sisters-in-law; Jenny Hayden and Rheta Brunner, both of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Clarence “Spike” Bauer, one sister; Arlene Schuh.

Memorial Services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima rural Durand. Rev. Eric Linzmaier will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

    So sorry to hear about your mom. I will always remember spending weeks on your farm in the 1960's and eating Beats good cooking. I was hoping to make the service on Tuesday however I have a business trip and depart Minneapolis airport at 1 PM. Tried to re-schedule but not possible.
