Edythe J. Schrantz

Edythe Schrantz, age 101 of Anoka, MN, formerly of Elk Mound, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Walker’s Plaza Assisted Living in Anoka, MN with her family by her side.

Edy was born on May 23, 1913 in the town of Lucas, Dunn County. She was the daughter of Frank and Camsey Dell (Scott) Keyes. She grew up in Knapp area and graduated from Knapp High School. Edy married Edwin “Ed” E. Schrantz on November 21, 1935 at St. Joseph’s in Menomonie. After marriage, they lived in Elk Mound area where Ed worked on the railroad and they raised their son, James. In her early years Edy worked as a bookkeeper, at the ammunition plant and on a mink farm. Later she was a housewife who enjoyed painting, sewing and gardening. Ed passed away on December 3, 1986. Edy continued to live in Elk Mound in the summer and spent her winters in Sun City, AZ for over 20 years. In 2009, Edy moved to Anoka, MN to be closer to her grandchildren.

Edy is survived by her 4 grandchildren; Jayne (Kevin) Watson of Anoka, MN, Kelley (Dale) Bujak of Braham, MN, Patricia (Mark) Wilkins of Andover, MN and Anthony (Michelle) Schrantz of Lino Lakes, MN, 11 great grandchildren; Amanda (Erik), Angela, Alexander, Timothy, Douglas, Stephanie, Jessica, Karleigh, Zachary, Rachel and McKenzie, three great-great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Madalyn and Everett, one brother; Delbert Keyes of Menomonie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Edwin, son and daughter-in-law; James (2003) and Nancy (2009) Schrantz, four brothers; Ed Schutz, John, William, Charles, Keyes and two sisters; Dorothy Purdue and Catherine Anderson.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound. Rev. Joseph C. Nakwah will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church on Thursday.
