Thomas W. "Tom" Alme

Thomas W. “Tom” Alme, age 65 of Arkansaw, died suddenly Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Chippewa Hospital in Durand.

Tom was born on December 5, 1948 in Durand. He was the son of Warren and Evelyn (Thompson) Alme. Tom grew up in the Durand area and graduated from the Durand High School in 1967. He attended River Falls College in River Falls and then took a job with Bauer Built. Tom married Cheryl Richardson; they were married for 10 years, had two children together and they later divorced. In 1983, Tom had to retire from Bauer Built for health reasons. Tom married Ann Smith in 1984 and they later divorced. For the last 15 years, Tom resided in Arkansaw.

Tom enjoyed bowling; he bowled in a couple of leagues in the area. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed watching the History Channel. Tom loved spending time with his family and friends; he especially enjoyed sharing stories with them.

Tom is survived by his children; Tami (William) Hendleman of Denver, CO and Tom (Susan) of Nelson, four grandchildren, three sisters; Sharon (Jim) Fetzer of Plum City, Nancy (Robert) Waldock of Stillwater, MN and Jane (Bob) Schauls of Durand, two aunts; Velma Owen of Cudahy and Vi Hestiken of Eau Claire, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Rev. Phil Bloomdahl will officiate. Burial will be in the Lyster Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4 until the time of services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

    So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Another classmate lost from Class of 67. I will be in Rice Lake on July 1st taking my granddaughters up to Rice Lake for a camp for the day so I may not be back in time. Know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during your time of loss.
