Roxanne L. "Roxy" Bowell

Roxanne L. “Roxy” Bowell, age 55 of Elmwood, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire after a massive stroke.

Roxy was born on September 5, 1958 in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Charles K. and Betty J. (Lindell) Lee. Roxy grew up in the Knapp area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1977. After high school Roxy attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire and received her degree in Tailoring. Roxy married Skip Bowell in 1978 and together they had a son, Jamie. They later divorced. She moved to Loveland – Ft. Collins area of Colorado for several years while she operated her tailor shop. Roxy moved back to Wisconsin in the Elmwood area in 1984. She worked McMillan Electric for 15 years. Roxy met her soul mate, Ron Wilkens in 1989 and they have been together ever since.

Roxy enjoyed horseback riding;  she and Ron took many trips out west to do horseback rides in the Big Horn Mountain range. She also liked her dogs and 4-wheeling. Most of all, Roxy enjoyed having a beer with her family and friends.

Roxy is survived by her soul mate; Ron Wilkens of Elmwood, son; Jamie of San Angelo, TX, one sister; Machael (Larry) Hughes of Elmwood, one brother Mike Lee of Florida, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life will be held in Roxy's honor from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Saturday August 16, 2014 at the Elmwood Rod & Gun Club in Elmwood.
