Delano C. Sinz

Delano C. Sinz, age 81 of Durand, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand with his wife and seven sons by his side.

Delano was born on November 11, 1932 in Eau Galle. He was the son of Clarence and Lena (Kaufman) Sinz. He grew up in the Eau Galle area, attended grade school in Eau Galle and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima, rural Durand in 1950. Delano married Rosetta Weissinger at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima on February 4, 1953. After marriage they farmed and raised their family in the Town of Durand. They moved into the city of Durand in 1988 and continued farming until 1991. Delano continued to help farmers with field work until 2002, when he became a full-time fisherman.

Delano was a past member of the Durand School Board. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church serving as an usher, and on the finance committee. Delano was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved the outdoors to go hunting and fishing. Most of all, Delano loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Delano is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosetta, seven sons, Dean, Don (Tootie), Doug (Mary), Dan (Diane), David (Angie), Duane (Tammy) and Dale (Tammy), all of Durand, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, three brothers; Wayne of San Mateo, CA, Lyle (Blanche) of Eau Galle and Larry (Joan) of Menomonie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; Justin, one brother; Cyril and one sister; Dorothy “Sis” Unser.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima rural Durand. Rev. Eric Linzmaier will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Delano’s name to Oakview Care Center, the Durand Sportsmen Club or the Eau Galle Sportsmen Club.
