Albert A. Lecheler

Albert A. Lecheler age 85 of Elmwood, passed away on Monday September 1, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, surrounded by his family.

Albert was born April 3, 1929 on the home farm, township of Eau Galle, Dunn County.  He was the son of John and Clara (Seipel) Lecheler and grew up in the Elmwood community.  Albert farmed with his parents as a young man.  He married Joan DeMarce June 2, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood.  Albert and Joan farmed for a few years in the Town of Rock Elm and Ellsworth.  In 1958, Albert and Joan purchased the Tony Lecheler farm on Farm Hill.  The farm has been in the Lecheler family for four generations, starting with Albert’s grandfather, George Lecheler.  In 1994 they moved into the Village of Elmwood and continued to farm until 2006 when they sold the dairy cattle.  Besides farming and raising a family, Albert dug graves and was the cemetery sextant for the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Farm Hill, for many years.    Albert will be remembered by his family for his strong faith and unfailing devotion to Joan.

Albert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; five children, Larry (Penny) of Abbotsford; Robert (Sherie) of Ladysmith; Bruce of Largo, FL; Mark (Penny) of Eau Claire; Cindy (John) Keller of St. Paul, MN.  Albert is further survived by 14 loving grandchildren; James(Betsy) Lecheler, Emilie (Andrew) Frank, Brian(Paige) Lecheler, Kimberly Lecheler,  Matt(Emily) Lecheler, Luke Lecheler, Sarah (Joel) DeKrey, Rob Lecheler, Joshua (Kaci) Lecheler, Thomas Lecheler, Jason Lecheler, Daniel Keller, Joseph Keller (Alison Cusick), and Rebecca Keller; 5 great grandchildren: Isabel, Micah and Noah DeKrey, Liam Lecheler, and Theodore Lecheler, and 1 great grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by two sisters, Leona Horn of Ellsworth and Oliva Pelzel of Elmwood. 

He is preceded in death by parents and four brothers: George, Joseph, Henry, and Harold.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Saturday September 6, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood.  Burial will follow services at the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Farm Hill.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
