Ruby M. Roth

Ruby M. Roth

Ruby M. Roth age 97 of Menomonie passed away on Friday November 28, 2014 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

The former Ruby Marion Fisher was born June 23, 1917 to Albert “Gus” and Anna (Kuehnle) Fisher in the Township of Menomonie.  Ruby married Ernest H. Roth on November 30, 1938.  They farmed south of Menomonie until 1969 when their son took over the farm.  Their family was blessed with the adoption of siblings Robert and Betty in 1952.

Ruby was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville.  She taught Sunday School for many years, sewed untold number of quilts for LWR and faithfully attended Bible Study.  Ruby enjoyed her family and friends.  She loved to garden-having a small garden even at the age of 90, “can’t beat fresh tomatoes”.  She was a gracious hostess-sharing her love by sharing food.  Ruby was very appreciative of anything anyone did for her.

Ruby is survived her daughter-in-law, Linda Roth of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Kevin, Brenda and David Roth; Nancy (Alex) Stygar and Richard (Kathy) Thibado; eight great grandchildren, Brian, Dylan, Amanda, Kayla and Brady Thibado, Shylo and Tristan Stygar and Connor Engeldinger; a great-great grandson, Eli Thibado.  She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Ray Steinke and a special niece, Elinor Smith and other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernie in 1992, her daughter Betty in 2005, a son Robert in 2006; her siblings and spouses, Mabel and Alvin Hage, Herb and Angier Fisher, Edna and Ralph Grundman, Bill and Audrey Fisher, and her twin sister Ruth Steinke.  Also preceding her in death were her in-laws, Margaret and John Dahler and Russell and Esther Baskin.

A special thank you to the staff at Then Neighbors of Dunn County for the loving care they provided to Ruby.

Memorials are preferred to; New Hope Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association, The Sugar Bowl at The Neighbors of Dunn County or to the donors choice.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday December 1, 2014 at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville with Rev. Dale Moe officiating.  Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Downsville.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Condolences

  1. Sue and Larry Mattson

"Aunt Ruby" (as we called her), was always such a wonderful, smiling, upbeat person who had a special twinkle in her eye when she talked to you. I remember eating her fabulous home-baked blackberry pies, when we would visit the farm, as kids. Her warm humor and zest for life are gifts I will always cherish, and will be greatly missed.

  2. Judy Diesslin Gift

My heartfelt sympathy to Linda and Ruby's many grand & great grandchildren. I have many fond memories of visiting Aunt Ruby. Her gracious hospitality was always loving and fun (even with our large family). I wish I wasn't so far away so I could give you all hugs. Prayers & blessings, Judy and Jim Gift

  4. Berdena Weber

I feel bad I can't attend Ruby's funeral because of my health right now. She was a very dear neighbor of ours. Even my children thought she was a dear friend as they helped her with her fall work for several years as she really liked them for their help. She deserved the help. My sympathy to all. Berdena

  5. Olene Dahler
