Katherine R. Schlosser

Katherine R. Schlosser

Katherine Regina Schlosser was born in Arkansaw, WI on November 30, 1919 to Joseph and Gertrude (Moritz) Hartung. She died January 13, 2015 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood, WI.

Katherine lived a very busy happy life keeping up with her 10 children and husband that liked to travel. World Fairs, Canadian fishing and blueberry trips, camping, lumber conventions, and visiting their children/grandchildren  all over the country were just a few of their adventures.   The family spent many happy hours at Hayward, WI enjoying the little cottage on the lake.  Her garden raised many fruits and vegetables for the family and offered many therapeutic hours of weeding and harvesting. You can just imagine the meals she prepared!   She enjoyed flowers - always planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, mulching.  The birds loved her bird bath and she watched them every morning over coffee. She and her husband Bud spent many retired winters in Ft. Myers Beach with family and friends.  They loved the warm temperatures with boating and enjoyed eating out especially at lunchtime.

Katherine spent her last 5 years at Autumn Village in Menomonie, WI before moving to Heritage Nursing Home in Elmwood, WI.  The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff that made her life enjoyable to the end.

Katherine is survived by her daughters and sons - Mary (George) Raupp of Naples, FL, Daniel (Debbie) Schlosser of Bay Minette, AL, Linda (Ed) Wells of Green Lake, Rebecca (Daryl) Olson of Lakeville, MN, Constance (Gary) Larson of Elk Mound, Katherine (Charles) Stori of Columbia, SC, Steven (Laurie) Schlosser of Arkansaw and Robert (Tammy) Schlosser of Durand. She will also be greatly missed by her 29 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Katherine is survived by her brother, Duane (Pat) Hartung of Merritt Island, FL, and sister-in-law, Gladys Hartung of New Brighten, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Schlosser, in 2004, her sons - Michael Francis in 2004, and William Joseph in 1958.  Her brothers, Walter, Galen, Harvey and Darrel Hartung, her sisters, Marge Driscoll, Lorraine Huettel, and Darlene Wolff.

Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Rev. Kevin Louis STL will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Friday.

In Lieu of flowers memorials in Katherine’s name may be made to the local charity of your choice.

My deepest sympathy to all my cousins out there. I have many great memories of the farm. We certainly enjoyed visiting with all of you, although it wasn't very often. Mom and Dad (Wendell and Lorraine Huettl) enjoyed our visits with everyone too. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Aunt Katherine was a very special person and will be missed. God bless all of you and your families.

  4. Jennifer Hartung Sullivan and family

Dear precious cousins, We are so sorry for your loss ! What a beautiful woman (inside and out) that your mom was!!!! Her smile and laugh lit up a room and was very contagious!!! We have many fond memories of Aunt Katherine and Uncle Bud! Although, I have always lived in sunny Florida, I had very few opportunities to enjoy boating or fishing..... However, your parents made it all happen for my family and I!! My family and I were fortunate enough to visit your parents in Fort Myers Beach quite a few times!!! They would always show us a good time!!! They taught us how to really enjoy the beauty of Florida and it's waters. We will miss your mom, as we still miss your dad! Aunt Katherine and Uncle Bud taught many of us how to live a full happy and purposeful life! Your entire family is a wonderful reflection of their meaningful life and their infinite legacy. Please know that we send our condolences and are keeping you all in our prayers!
Love, Jennifer, your cousin in Florida, who would have loved to have been at the memorial! God Bless You and your entire Family!

The picture of your mom reminds me of childhood years visiting you all in Wisconsin after a long drive from Florida! She touched many lives and will be missed. My parents, Bob and Mary Ellen, fondly talked of your mom. They appreciated her phone calls especially in later years. May you all be blessed with her love and strength.

  12. Susanne Driscoll

Dear Cousins, my heart is with you. I will light a candle here, and we, Aunt Katherine and I, will have many lively discussions yet. Full of laughter as always. She typifies the spirit of the Hartungs in a very special way to me and trips to the farm during my childhood were happy happy times for me. Everyone was allowed to be loud and sometimes cranky...and I loved it. And I especially loved the ready twinkle in your eye and the infectious smile that turned to laughter,Aunt Katherine. Of course life was (and is) hard sometimes...and a lot of hard work goes into it, I can still hear you say. May your laughter continue to bless and heal us. Our prayers and love, Susanne
