Marion A. Radle

Marion A. Radle

Marion Berger Radle age 89 of New Richmond, formerly of Elmwood, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at The Deerfield senior living community, surrounded by family.

She was born December 3, 1925 on her parent’s farm on the Maxville Prairie, Buffalo County, near Durand, Wisconsin, and graduated from Nelson High School. She was accepted for a secretarial job at a company in Eau Claire doing war work, but her parents persuaded her to stay and help on the farm.

She married Paul Radle September 16, 1947, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle, Wisconsin. They lived for a few years in Downsville, Wisconsin, then moved to Elmwood, Wisconsin, where they made their home for almost sixty years. She was the bookkeeper for the auto repair business, Radle Auto Electric, which they operated for many years.

She taught catechism (primarily First Communion) classes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood for nearly 30 years, and was active in the Alter and Rosary Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years.

She is survived by two sons, Steven (Diane) of Silver Bay, Minnesota, William (Karen Engesether) of North Hudson, one daughter, Nancy (Rodney Cameron) of Stillwater, Minnesota, two brothers, James (Maxine) of Menomonie, and Lorin (Roberta) of Hartford, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her friends at The Deerfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter, Kathleen, her husband, Paul, her grandson, Jon, three brothers, Clarence, Leonard and Francis, and one sister, Florence Hurlbert.

Marion’s greatest joy was her family. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all children and would have been a mother to every child in the world if she could. She was an avid gardener and prolific reader. She was an artist, and continued to draw and paint (especially her beloved flowers), and do needlework until recent years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Nathan Thainase officiating.  Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Farm Hill, Township of Rock Elm, rural Elmwood.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
