Gertrude C. “Gert” Bresson, age 84 of Menomonie, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 with her family by her side.

Gert was born on September 29, 1930 in Morris, MN. She was the daughter of Claus and Catherina (Rahtge) Drewes. She grew up in the Morris area and graduated from Alberta High School. Gert married Nick Bresson September 7, 1950 in Morris. In their early years, Gert and Nick lived in Brandon, MN where they raised their family.  In 1969, they moved to Menomonie where Gert and Nick owned and operated the Sears store until they retired.

Gert enjoyed dancing, traveling and volunteering. She was an avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching the Vikings and Twins. Most of all, Gert loved to spend time with family and friends.

Gert is survived by her six children; Carol (Doug) Reed of White Bear Lake, MN, Joan Custer of Gilroy, CA, Cathy Hanson of Vadnais Heights, MN, John (Connie) of Plano, TX, Pat (Rod) Evenson of Menomonie and Karen (Matt) Flug of Menomonie, 11 grandchildren; Andrea (Brian), Matt (Jodi) and Jamie (Andy), Jessica (Steve), Kevin, Renee, Nikki (Joe), Chelsey, Brooke (Dustin), MacKenzie and Emma, five great grandchildren; Autumn, Morgan, Abby, Jack and Kinzey, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Nick, one sister; Rosie Jacobson and one brother; Henry Drewes.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie. Rev. John Mano will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gert’s name to Stepping Stones of Dunn County 1620 Stout Rd, Menomonie, WI 54751.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Menomonie, is serving the family.
