Lloyd F. Rahrmann

Lloyd F. Rahrmann, age 87 of Pepin, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN.

Lloyd was born on January 19, 1928 in Theilman, MN. He was the son of Fred and Ella Mae (Houlahan) Rahrmann. Lloyd grew up in the Lake City area and attended Lake City High School. After school, Lloyd joined the U.S. Army and served stateside in Camp Crowder, MO and in Mason General Hospital in New York, NY and Fort Dix, NJ. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Lloyd married Patricia Barnsdorf on May 7, 1956 in Plum City where they resided until 1964. After marriage, Lloyd worked on the Ore boats on the Great Lakes. In 1964, Lloyd and Pat moved their family to Pepin, where Lloyd remained the rest of his life.

Lloyd enjoyed woodworking and going camping up north in Chetek. He was active in the Maiden Rock Legion for 30 years, 18 years as 1st Vice Commander and also belonged to the 40-8 out of River Falls. Most of all, Lloyd enjoyed spending time with family.

Lloyd in survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat, one son; Randy (Debby) of Pepin, two grandchildren; Heather (Ryan) and Brady, three great grandchildren, Lydia, Raif and Willow, two sisters, Irene Walsh of St. Paul, MN and Mildred Cook of Kansas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded death by his parents, one son, Monty, two sisters, Eleanor Jacobs and Vivian Williams.

Memorial Services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Rev. Terry Hettenbach will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Maiden Rock American Legion. Burial will be in the Maiden Rock Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home on Wednesday.
