Charles J. Falkner

Charles J. Falkner

Charles J. Falkner age 80 of rural Durand, died Saturday April 18, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

Charlie was born June 10, 1934 on the home farm in the Township of Peru, Dunn County.  He was the son of Henry and Clara (Berger) Falkner.

Charlie attended Holy Rosary-Lima Elementary School.  As a young man he farmed with his family on the home farm.  Charlie served in the U.S Army from 1955-1957 and was honorably discharged.  After the service he returned home and purchased his farm, and farmed the rest of his life.

Charlie married Jacque Hollinger in 1987.  Besides Charlie's love of farming, he enjoyed being outdoors, his John Deere tractors, and visiting with family and friends. He especially loved going to auctions and spending endless hours cutting wood. Charlie will be remembered fondly for his great sense of humor, his goofy grin, his infectious giggle and his never ending wit.  Charlie had a heart of gold.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Jacque; a brother James Falkner of Birchwood; a sister Rita Wick and friend David Moore of Stillwater, MN; six step children; a very special niece Karen (Pat) Scott of Mondovi, special nephews Kerry (Lori) Falkner, and Dan (Samantha) Falkner of Mondovi; many other nieces and nephews that were like his children; along with his first great-great nephew born on April 17, 2015, Charles Edward Falkner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Bobby, Francis, Arnie, Johnny, Judy.

Memorial services will be 11:30 AM Friday, April 24, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, with Father Lawrence Berger, Charlie's cousin, officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 181 Durand.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM at the church prior to services on Friday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Durand is serving the family.
