Phyllis S. Nelson

Phyllis S. Nelson age 89 of Jordan, MN formerly of Menomonie, WI passed away Wednesday August 5, 2015 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN, with her family at her side.

Phyllis was born at home on March 11, 1926 in Faribault, MN.  She was the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Wilson) Borman.  Phyllis grew up in South Minneapolis and graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in January of 1944.  After high school she worked for National Tea in the payroll office from 1944 to 1947.  Phyllis married Robert D. Nelson October 27, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN.  After marriage they made their home and farmed in the Plum City area until 1965.  They moved to a farm west of Menomonie where they farmed until 2003.  In 1976 they moved into the city of Menomonie until 1992 when they moved to a lake home on Lake Tainter.  After Robert’s death in 2006, Phyllis moved in with her daughter (Jayne) in Clermont, Florida. In 2010, Phyllis moved with her daughter to Hudson, WI until January of 2014 when she moved to Oak Terrace Senior Living in Jordan, MN where she remained the rest of her life.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking and baking and made many meals for family and friends. She loved traveling with her husband, Bob.  She loved to play card games and going to casinos. Phyllis had a soft spot in heart for her dogs.  Phyllis was an avid sports enthusiast, never missing watching a Packer Game.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and visiting with family and friends.

Phyllis was a loving and dedicated wife. A guiding and devoted mother. The most giving and inspired grandmother.  She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Phyllis is survived by her one son, Mark Nelson of Menomonie; two daughters, Carol Nelson of Menomonie and Jayne Nelson of Jordan, MN; seven grandchildren, Steven Schaefer, Mandy Wolbert, Jeremy, Melissa and Brandon Bardwell, Amy and Bryan Bee and five great grandchildren; one sister Delores Ponessa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and her siblings, Delmar, Lucille, Maynard, Vernon and Archie.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday September 5, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, WI with Rev. Wendy Slaback officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Plum City.
