Lawrence L. Von Holtum

Lawrence L. Von Holtum, age 88 of Plum City, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls.

Lawrence was born on July 28, 1927 in Lismore, MN, the son of Ludwig and Helena (Burkard) Von Holtum. He grew up in Lismore and graduated from Lismore High School. Lawrence helped on the family farming operation. He served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. Lawrence married Lois Skelly in 1954 and they moved to Plum City, where they lived and raised their family.

Lawrence owned Von’s Bar but spent most of his life as a farmer. He also served on the Plum City School Board.

Lawrence is survived by his five children, Jeffrey (Kelly) of Plum City; Janice Johnson of Ellsworth; Jill Von Holtum of St. Paul, MN; Meg (Tom) McCollister of Waterford, MI and Laurel (Mark) Mugg of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Rick), Shannon, Whitney (Harley), John, Michael, Lance, Matthew, Heather and Jeffrey; three great grandchildren, Jack, Addy and Kate; his sister, Marie of South Dakota. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois, siblings, Leo, Gertrude, Clarence, Joseph and Anna Mae; son-in-law, Randy Johnson and great grandson; Oliver Hotchkiss.

Memorial Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plum City with Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
