Irene E. Unser, age 91 of Eau Galle, went to the Lord on August 8, 2008, at the Oakview Care Center in Durand, surrounded by her loving family.

Irene was born on October 24, 1916 in rural Pierce County to Fred and Laura (Nash) Delong. Irene married Donald Unser July 3, 1933 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. They lived most of their married life in Buttermilk Coulee. Irene was an avid card player and enjoyed going to the Casinos, bowling, crafts, fishing and hunting. She was an active member of St. Henry’s Parish, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Irene was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining people. She also worked as a nurse’s aid at the Durand Nursing Home. She also enjoyed sending birthday cards, anniversary cards and get well cards to family and friends in the area. Irene is a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

Irene is survived by three daughters, Carol Baier of Eau Galle, Rita (Larry) Gruber of Durand and Sue (Gary) Pickering of Menomonie, two sons, Jerry (Carol) Unser of West Salem, Craig (Kristine) Unser of Durand, 22 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, grandsons, Danny and David Spindler, son-in-law, Jerry Baier, two sisters, Pearl Hill and Dorothy Bilderback.
