John J. Reinkey

John J. Reinkey, age 86 of Elmwood, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

John was born on March 13, 1930 in Rock Elm. He was the son of Arnold and Selma (Hawn) Reinkey. John grew up in Rock Elm, went to Rock Elm Grade School and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1948. After high school John attended UW-Madison to take a short farming industry course. John took over the family farm in 1955 after his father passed away and lived there until 2015. John moved to the Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood until after a fall where he moved the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home until his death.

John raised Registered Holstein Cattle and went to many cattle shows and auctions. He enjoyed making maple syrup, fishing, going dancing and playing cards. John was an avid collector of toy tractors and proudly displayed them at his home. He was a lifelong member of Rock Elm United Methodist Church and liked to help with the ice cream socials for many years. John was on the Poplar Hill Cemetery Board, the Pierce County Farm Bureau and the Hancock Masonic Lodge.

John is survived by his sisters; Dorothy (Glenn) Nelson of Elmwood, Mildred (Bob) Reitz of Edgerton and Pat (Ralph) Ginsbach of Elmwood, eight nephews and nieces; Greg (Vicki) Nelson, Carrie Nelson, Ann (Dave) Siegel, Arnie (Lori) Nelson, Jeff (Angie) Reitz, Tom (Tammy) Reitz, Brian (Amy) Ginsbach and Jennifer (Chris) Clauson, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Mark Reitz.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Rock Elm United Methodist Church in Elmwood with Rev. Michael Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation before the service but friends are welcome to a luncheon after the service.

    To the Reinkey Family:

    I am saddened and sorry to see one of the true pioneers of Rock Elm and Waverly pass on. John was always a part of our Kurschinski family and a best friend.

    I know that John was met with some pretty remarkable individuals on his way to his new journey. He suffers no more. RIP Johnny. You will never be forgotten.
