Esther C. Harmon, age 91 of Arkansaw,

Born: December 9, 1916

Died: August 26, 2008 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Esther was the daughter of Edward and Christina (Hetrick) Traun. She was born and raised on Traun Bluff, Town of Maxville, Buffalo County. Esther attended and graduated from the Sacred Heart Nursing Program. Esther married Carl Harmon on May 28, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. After marriage they lived and farmed in Arkansaw until they retired. Her husband Carl died October 14, 2006. Esther has been a resident of the Plum City Care Center for the past three years.

Esther was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw and an active member of St. Ann’s Altar Society. Esther and Carl were members of the Town and Country Twirlers (Square Dancers). In her early years, Esther enjoyed motorcycling with her husband Carl. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Esther is survived by two daughters, Monica (John) Krings of Arkansaw, Alice O’Donnell (friend, David O’Donnell) of Roberts, four sons, Michael of Sioux Falls, SD, William (Deborah) of Menomonie, Edward (friend, Julie Larson) and Anthony (Mary), both of Arkansaw, 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marian Schwab of Plum City and Irene Brion-Bluem of Arkansaw and one brother Robert Traun Sr. of Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, one son, Tomas, one grandson, Danny Harmon, five sisters, Mildred Berger, Lucy Thibeau, Eleanor Luebker, Rose Schwab and Betty Luebker and one brother John Traun.
