Allamae B. Edwards

Allamae B. Edwards age 91 of Menomonie, died Tuesday June 21, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

Allamae was born October 12, 1924 in Menomonie.  She was the daughter of Elwood and Gladys (Peck) Cleasby.  Allamae moved with her parents to Kellogg and then onto Graceville, MN where she attended elementary school.  The family moved back to Menomonie and Allamae graduated from Menomonie High School in 1942.  She married Harry Edwards October 14, 1942 at St. Joseph’s Rectory in Menomonie.  After marriage they farmed in the Township of Tainter where they raised three children, Richard, Aldon and Jeannine.  In 1963, Harry was killed in a construction accident.  Allamae and children continued to live and farm in Tainter Township.  She also was employed at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, in the business office. She also served as a Clerk at the Clearview School.  After living in the Town of Tainter for 59 years, Allamae sold the farm and moved into Menomonie with her cat, Lucky

Allamae belonged to the Tainter Homemakers for 55 years.  She enjoyed “RV-ing”, travel, playing cards, casino’s and gardening. 

Allamae is survived by her son Aldon Edwards of Colfax and his children, Ginni Jo, Keith and Josh Edwards ; daughter, Jeannine (Andrew F.) Burgess of Jupiter, FL and children, Tracy Carlson and Jeff Hoyt; daughter-in-law, Judith Edwards of Superior, and her children, Patrick and Shelley Edwards; 13 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, a son Richard, a sister Murceil Opsal and a brother Elwood Cleasby.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. James Kurzynski officiating with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the services at the church on Saturday.
