Darlene M. Hubbard, age 73 of Rock Falls,
Born: January 28, 1935
Died: September 11, 2008 at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Darlene was the daughter of Lloyd and Pearl (Coleman) Hubbard. She was born and raised in Durand. She attended and graduated from St. Felix High School in Wabasha, MN. Following high school, Darlene attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. Darlene worked as a cook at various locations in the area, most recently at Beth’s Twin Bluffs Café in Nelson. “Darlene was happiest in the kitchen.”
Darlene was a very active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rock Falls, where she taught religious education for 17 years. She was an active member of the Lima Polka Choir. Darlene was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Crystal Witt of Winona, MN, Gay (Monte) Hurlburt of Durand and Melissa (Mark) Kent of Rock Falls, three sons, Michael Schuh of Eau Claire, Tracy (Pamela) Schuh of Mondovi and Jay (Kim) Schuh of Durand, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, three sisters, Donelda Langseth of Minnieska, MN, Karen Harney of Rochester, MN and Lucinda Marking of Dumfries, MN, two brothers John and Joe Hubbard, both of Wabasha, MN. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lorna Hartung.
