Dorothy I. Unser

Dorothy I. Unser, age 93 of Eau Galle, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Dorothy was born on January 1, 1923 in “Barney Branch”, rural Eau Galle. She was the daughter of Edward and Marjorie (Allen) McRoberts. Dorothy grew up in Eau Galle, attended the Eau Galle School and graduated as the Salutatorian of the Durand High School, class of 1941. After high school, Dorothy attended Dunn County Normal. Dorothy married Kenneth Unser on May 26, 1942 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Together they farmed in the Arkansaw – Eau Galle area and raised their seven children. Dorothy served as the Town of Eau Galle treasurer for several years.

Dorothy enjoyed music, reading, drives in the country and sitting on her patio drinking coffee. Our Mother loved and truly appreciated the beauty of nature, especially storms.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Carlene Harris of Menomonie, Nell (Joe) Brunner of Eau Claire, Mike (Barbara) of Arkansaw, Mary Brantner of Lakeville, MN, Patrice (Michael) Pollard of Salem, OR and Jim (Sissy) of Arkansaw, 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Sr. Carlene Unser of LaCrosse and Tootie Unser of Plum City, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Kenneth, one son; John, two grandsons; Joey and Joseph Christopher Brunner, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
