Willard C Baier
Willard C. “Bill” Baier age 83 of Eau Claire, formerly of Elmwood,
Died: Saturday October 4, 2008 at the Dove Health Care Center in Eau Claire.
Bill was born June 21, 1925 in Pepin County, the son of Carl and Ruth (Smith) Baier. He grew up in the Arkansaw area as a child, and in his “teen” years, moved with his family to the Farm Hill area of rural Elmwood. Bill gradated from the Elmwood High School in 1943. Bill began farming at on the home farm at the age of sixteen and continued farming until moving to Eau Claire in 2004. Bill married Nina Ridpath August 16, 1951 in Eau Claire. After marriage they farmed and raised their family near Elmwood. Bill enjoyed playing sports in his younger years. He had a love of horses, enjoyed playing cards of all kinds with his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed watching his children and brother with all their sporting activities in during their school years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nina, six children, R. Thomas (Mary) Baier of Owatonna, MN; Mary Baier of Cleveland, TN; Michael (Cathy) Baier of Eau Claire; Tony (Dawn) Baier of Elmwood; Mark (Joy) Baier of Eau Galle; Ann Webb of Elmwood; 11 grandchildren, four great granddaughters and 1 great grandson; four sisters, Marjorie Weyer of Eden Prairie, MN; Mary Lou Droster of DeForest; Shirley Jensen of Lakeville, MN; Judy Giardina of Cypress, CA; one brother, James Baier of Elmwood; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; and a sister, Lorraine McCardle.
The family would like to thank Dr.C;Roberts & Dr. P.Roberts, the staff of Dove Health Care and Northwest Wisconsin Home Care for their care and treatment to Bill thes past few years.
